2008 Topic is Healthy Living
An important aspect of life is the ability to make positive decisions that will enhance your personal, physical, mental and spiritual health. This includes choosing nutritious foods, staying physically active, and avoiding negative lifestyle practices. Keeping yourself informed about positive health practices within your environment is an essential way to improve your overall health and sense of well-being. How can you make a difference in your own personal health lifestyle and positively impact your friends and family?
Possible Ideas include: - Processed foods/Preservatives vs. Natural/Organic Ingredients
- The positive effects of exercise and fitness.
- Making positive nutritional decisions
- Managing stress
- Inactive lifestyles. How excessive viewing of TV and playing video games may lead to obesity and health ailments later in liife.
- Outdoor activities/Indoor activities - How has the advancement of technology has changed the activities of children and teenagers over the generations. Example: Kickball and board games vs. video and computer games.
- Air Quality/Pollution
- Pop and candy machines in schools.
- How does a person’s environment impact their health? a. Peer influence b. Parental influence c. Healthy vs. Unhealthy states d. regions of the world.
Rules and Guidelines
- Contest is open to high school and college students in the United States, age 14 -22.
- Please try to eliminate
using any name brands on camera while filming your commercial.
- Commercials should pertain to the topic, Healthy Living
- Videos should be uploaded to the Great Minds website. Additional information is located on the website regarding specific file types and size restrictions.
- Videos should be under
2 minutes in length.
- All submitted videos become the exculsive poperty of the Great Minds Foundation for broadcast use and will not be returned. Entrants surrender all copyright and potential claims of intellectual property.
- Participants will create commercials at their own expense.
- Sponsors reserve the right to eliminate videos with inappropriate commercials.
- Each participant must submit a
consent form. Any person appearing
in the commercial
must sign a waiver. Any projects
with incomplete paperwork will be
disqualified.

Uploading
Directions / Troubleshooting
- Once
you’ve finished editing
your video, made sure it's less than
2 minutes, smaller than 300MB, and
in an acceptable format, you're ready
to upload it.
- Click "Upload" in
the center of any of the Great
Minds
pages after logging into the Great
Minds website.
- Enter as much information
about your video as possible,
including
Title, Description, Tags, and
Channel. The more information
you include,
the easier it is for users to
find your video!
- Click the "Continue" button.
- In the next window, click
the "Browse" button
to browse for the video file.
Select the file you want to upload.
- Click the "Upload" button.
(It can take from a couple minutes
to an hour for your video to
upload.)
Troubleshooting
- If you're
receiving an error with your Upload,
you
might
want
to make
sure you're attempting
to upload a file that's recognized
by our
site. We accepts
video files from most
digital cameras and
camcorders, and cell phones in
the .AVI,
.MOV, .WMV,
and .MPG file formats.
- Invalid filename error - Please
check to make sure that your filename
is short, does not contain any spaces
or characters. Keep the name simple
and try to rename your file and then
upload it again if this is the case.
- If you are still unable
to upload your video, please contact

Prize/Judging Information
The under two minute commercials will be uploaded to the Great Minds website and viewed by all of the participants and the global community. A combination of participant voting and a panel of judges will determine the semi-finalists. The panel will select the final contest winners. The contests will culminate in a special April event to announce the winners.
Voting has not yet begun. An email will be sent to anyone registered with the Great Minds website when voting does commence.
